"Reimagining Belonging and Healing" 20-30 JUNE

In a world marked by unprecedented migrations, ecological crises, and social injustices, the concept of Belonging has taken on profound significance. The Ishango Ancestral Ecology Encounter seeks to address these challenges by emphasizing the interdependence between humans and the more-than-human world. By engaging with the questions of Plurality of Belonging and Healing through Ancestral Ecology, participants will contribute to the ongoing discourse on ecological, social, and ethical issues. Ishango provides a unique opportunity to collectively envision a world where belonging extends beyond human boundaries and where ancestral wisdom can heal the wounds of normalized violence.

Redefining Belonging through Ancestral Ecology and Archiving

In this section, the conference will focus on redefining belonging by recognizing our interdependence with the past- future and the future – past. Ancestral archives will be explored as a means to preserve and transmit information within living beings. The interconnectedness of knowledge and life itself will be highlighted. Participants will engage in discussions, film screenings, and presentations to explore this concept, emphasizing the blurring of boundaries between information storage and life itself.

Healing in a World of Violence: The Role of Ejo Lobi
